Who we are

Alevate Books is bookkeeping and accounting software operated by UKPACKAGES LIMITED, a company registered in England and Wales at 12 Constance Street, London E16 2DQ, United Kingdom. In these terms we means that company and Alevate means the software. You means the business whose books are kept in it.

What Alevate is, and what it is not

Alevate records what you and your accountant put into it, and what the services you connect report to it. It keeps a double-entry ledger, produces statements from that ledger, and shows you what it holds.

It is not an accountant and it does not give advice. It does not decide how a transaction should be treated, whether a figure is right, or what your tax position is. Those are judgements for you and whoever keeps your books, and the responsibility for them stays with you. Nothing Alevate displays is a professional opinion, and nothing in it is filed with any authority on your behalf.

Nor are we. We sell software on a monthly subscription and nothing else. We are not your bookkeeper, your accountant or your auditor, we do not keep your books for you, and we do not check, approve or sign off anything in them. Setting you up, training your people and answering questions are all about how the software works — never about whether a figure is right. The people who enter, review and approve what is in your books are your own team, or an accountant you engage yourself, and they answer for that work.

Your account

You are responsible for who you invite into your books and what they can do once inside. Keep sign-in details to the person they belong to; anything done with an account is treated as done by that person. Tell us promptly if you think an account has been used by somebody else.

Do not use Alevate to record transactions you know to be false, or to produce statements intended to mislead somebody. We may close an account we believe is being used that way.

Your data is yours

The records in your books belong to you. We hold them to run the service and for no other purpose — we do not sell them, and we do not use them to train anything. What we hold and why is set out in our privacy policy and, where we process data on your behalf, our data processing agreement.

You can export your data at any time while your account is open. If you leave, ask and we will give you a copy.

Services you connect

Where you connect a shop, an advertising account or a bank, Alevate reads from it with the permission you grant and never writes to it. It cannot change a price, a product, an order or a campaign. If a connected service reports something incorrectly, Alevate will record what it was told — check a figure against its source before relying on it.

Some systems send to Alevate rather than being read by it. MyUmrah CRM, which we also sell as software, works this way: it runs your travel operation and reports what happened — a booking made, a group departed, a hotel paid — to the books you connect it to. It is a separate product on its own subscription, and connecting the two does not change who is responsible for either. What it sends arrives as a draft for your team to check, and only the kinds of event you have deliberately chosen to trust are recorded without that check. Alevate never writes back into it.

You can disconnect any service at any time. Doing so stops the reading; the figures already recorded stay in your books, because they are part of your accounts.

Availability

We work to keep Alevate available and your data safe, but we do not promise it will never be unavailable. Maintenance, faults and the failure of services we depend on all happen. We do not promise the software is free of defects, and we fix what we find.

Keep your own copies of anything you cannot afford to lose. An export you hold is worth more than any assurance we could give you here.

Fees

Where a fee applies it is the one agreed with you in writing, and it is charged by whoever you engaged — us, or the accountancy practice that brought you to Alevate. Connecting an app or a shop to Alevate carries no charge of its own.

What the fee buys is the use of the software for the month, and the help needed to run it. It does not buy bookkeeping, accountancy or any professional service, and no part of it is a fee for work on your accounts. Each product we sell is subscribed to separately.

Ending it

You can stop using Alevate whenever you like, and ask us to delete your books. We may end an account for a serious or repeated breach of these terms, or where we are required to. Where we do, we will tell you and give you a reasonable chance to take your data with you unless the law prevents it.

Limits

We are responsible for losses we cause by failing to take reasonable care, and we do not exclude anything the law does not allow us to exclude. Beyond that, we are not responsible for lost profits, lost business, or decisions taken on figures that were never checked against their source.

Changes, and the law

If we change these terms in a way that matters we will say so before it takes effect. Continuing to use Alevate after that means you accept the change.

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and its courts have jurisdiction.
